Osun police vows justice for ‘Emir’, warns against reprisal attacks

The Osun state police command has vowed to bring killers of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as “Emir Ajagungbade,” to book.

The command assured the public that it is taking all necessary operational and investigative measures to uncover both the immediate and remote causes of the attack, track down the perpetrators, and ensure everyone culpable is brought to justice.

The public relations officer of the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, in a statement, disclosed that a full-scale investigation has been launched into the shooting of Emir which occurred in Ile-Ife, Sunday.

According to Ojelabi, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, replayed officers to the scene following reports of a road traffic accident near the Energy filling station in Ile-Ife.

He said, upon arrival, operatives secured the area, restored order, and confirmed through preliminary investigations that Oyeyemi had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

Strongly condemning the killing, Zungura appealed to residents, groups, and aggrieved parties to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

He warned against any form of criminality, reprisal violence, or destruction of property.

The police commissioner expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, reassuring that the command is committed to protecting lives and maintaining peace.

He urging the public to cooperate by providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigation.
