Osun police arrest 45-year-old man for alleged rape

The Osun state police command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeyemo Mukaila, for the alleged rape of a younger woman in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.

In a press release issued Wednesday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, the police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, revealed that the suspect is a good friend of the sufferer’s grandmother and a frequent customer to their residence.

According to the assertion, the abuse occurred on two separate events.

“Sometime in September 2026, the suspect referred to as the sufferer to retrieve some objects for him. When she arrived at his home, he dragged her into his room, eliminated her underwear, and had canal data of her.

“Furthermore, on October 2nd—which was the sufferer’s birthday—she gladly knowledgeable him of the event and requested for a birthday reward. The suspect gave her one thousand naira (N1,000) and concurrently demanded a present in return. The sufferer went to purchase him biscuits and took them to his workshop across the Ilupeju space of Ikire.

“The suspect then dragged her into a nearby bush and had canal knowledge of her again. When he noticed that people had spotted them, he fled into the bush. Commuters intercepted the victim, asked what had happened, and upon hearing her account, pursued the suspect, arrested him, and handed him over to the police,” the assertion added.

The command urged members of the general public, notably dad and mom, to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious actions or felony actions to the closest police station or by means of official emergency channels.
