The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has assured the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) of its support in the recovery, readout and analysis of flight recorder data from the ATR-42 aircraft that was involved in an accident in the Igbokoda area of Ondo state on Monday.

The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Bureau, Capt. Alex Badeh Jr., said in a statement on Monday that the NSIB stands ready to assist the Nigerian Air Force, at its request, with whatever technical support may be required.

Badeh extended the Bureau’s sincere condolences to the Nigerian Air Force, as well as to the families and colleagues of all those on board the aircraft.

“Our thoughts are with them, and with the Search and Rescue teams working at the site,” he said.

He commended the swift activation of Search and Rescue operations and the efforts of first responders at Igbokoda.

Badeh urged the public to rely exclusively on official updates from the Nigerian Air Force regarding the rescue operation and any investigation into the accident.

He added that further comments from the Bureau would be issued only as appropriate and in consultation with the Nigerian Air Force.
