Niger: House of Representatives candidate raises alarm over ADC crisis

The Borgu/ Agwara Federal Constituency candidate on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 House of Representative election, Prince Murtala Haliru Dantoro, has raised the alarm over the crisis rocking the party in Niger state insisting that the party is on the path of defeat in 2027 unless the crisis is urgently resolved.

Dantoro stated this in an interview with Blueprint.ng in Minna on Tuesday, explaining that the existence of different factions have been festering and blocking the unity of the party in the state.

According to him, “there is the urgent need for the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to immediately intervene and resolve the internal crisis rocking the party in Niger state which is capable of preventing the success of the party in the 2027 general elections”.

He described the ADC in Niger state as a house divided against itself which cannot cannot stand, adding that a party divided against itself cannot win election as important as 2027 general elections.

“I therefore respectfully urge our Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to urgently look into the crisis and address the divisions to reconcile the factions, restore order and unity within our ranks of the party members,” he appealed.

Dantoro expressed concern over the polarisation of the party with some aspirants illegitimately parading themselves as candidate for the Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency, despite the the fact that he has been duly nominated and emerged as the legitimate candidate of the constituency in the forthcoming National Assembly elections.

“I am the duly nominated and legitimate House of Representatives candidate for Borgu and Agwara Federal Constituency, flying the flag of our great party, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 National Assembly election. My nomination and emergence as the party’s legitimate House of Representative candidate is a fact backed by documentation, every step of the process that brought me to this point was recorded and done in line with the constitution and guidelines of the ADC. There were no shortcuts and no irregularities”, he explained.

He said as ambassadors of the ADC presidential candidate in Niger state, his team had began house to house, market to market, village to village mobilisation to convince Nigerians that Atiku Abubakar is the leader this country needs, adding that “but an ambassador cannot represent a fractured house with confidence. Give us a united party, sir, and we will give you Nigeria”.
