The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Akinola Damilare, popularly generally known as “General Don”, for allegedly impersonating army personnel.
In an announcement signed by police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command stated operatives of its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit arrested the suspect at about 2am on November 3, 2026, in Kajola, Elega, Abeokuta.
The arrest adopted “credible intelligence from a community leader and discreet surveillance” by SWAT operatives, the assertion stated. “Items recovered from him include a military face cap, three-quarter military trousers and four photographs depicting him in military uniform,” it added.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to tackling impersonation and different legal actions, urging residents to report suspicious conduct promptly. “Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and determine whether others are connected to the case,” the assertion stated.
