Man machetes father to de@th for refusing to will a property to him

A middle-aged man has been arrested by men of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly hacking his father, retired Marine Captain David Nwoke, to de@th during a dispute over a property at Oro Ekpo Estate, Ada George, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state on Sunday morning, July  5.

According to reports, the deceased had concluded plans to relocate to his hometown in the South-East and had invited his children to inform them of his decision and distribute some of his properties.

However, the son of the deceased’s second wife had demanded for one of his father’s cars, but the request was declined.

Angered by his father’s refusal to grant his request, he allegedly plotted to eliminate him.

Residents of the community say on the day of the incident, the deceased had gone out for his morning walks, returned home, and just as he was about to enter his room to freshen up, the suspect allegedly emerged from hiding and att@cked him multiple times with a m@chete, leaving him with f@tal injuries.

The housemaid immediately alerted neighbors, who alerted the police at Rumuokpani Police Division.

Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, SP Agabe Blessing, said the matter is being investigated, and upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged to court.
