Man docked for attacking, injuring woman with iron rod during vigil in Ogun
A 50-year-old man, Abdulrasaki Danladi, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo for allegedly assaulting a woman with an iron rod.
Danladi was accused of attacking one Fausat Zanku at about 10:00 p.m. on September 30 at Igbore Village, Iro Town, Owode-Egba.
The prosecutor, Evelyn Motim, told the court that the defendant attacked the complainant while she was observing vigil prayers at a Celestial Church.
Motim said Danladi assaulted Zanku with an iron rod without any prior encounter, causing grievous head injury which left her incapacitated.
She said the complainant raised an alarm which attracted church members and led to the defendant’s arrest.
Danladi, who appeared on a one-count charge of assault, pleaded guilty.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 335 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O Sam-Obaleye, adjourned the case till October 29 for hearing of facts.
