Kebbi: Troops engage terrorists, rescue six kidnapped victims
Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims were rescued on September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity at Mehinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Danja said troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to flee and abandon the victims.
He said the six kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, while the vehicle involved was also recovered.
According to him, the rescued victims and the vehicle were subsequently handed over to relevant community authorities for further necessary action.
