‘I’m assured you’ll win the trophy’ — Tinubu encourages Flamingos forward of World Cup ultimate
President Bola Tinubu says he’s assured that the
Flamingos can win the 2026 Women’s U-17 World Cup in Morocco.
Flamingos defeated Brazil on Wednesday to achieve their
first-ever ultimate of the age-grade competitors.
A Queen Joseph opener and an Awawu Bashiru double have been
sufficient to drown out Graise Kelly’s comfort objective for the Brazilians.
The workforce face Japan on Saturday and will win Nigeria’s
first world title in ladies’s soccer.
In an announcement on Thursday, Tinubu charged the Flamingos to
“approach the final with the same fighting spirit and belief” that introduced them
this far.
“I name on all Nigerians to rally behind the younger
ambassadors of the nation, whose achievements proceed to showcase Nigeria’s
sporting excellence and encourage a brand new era of women to pursue their
desires uninhibited. Once once more, Nigeria is happy with you,” the president mentioned.
Nigeria’s earlier milestone on the competitors was a bronze
medal in 2022.
