IGP Disu confers Nigeria Police Force National Ambasasor on Flutterwave CEO, Olugbenga Agboola

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, Monday, formally conferred on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of Flutterwave, Mr Olugbenga Agboola, the appointment as National Youth Ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force under the International Youth Day 2026 – National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Anietie Iniedu, in a press statement in Abuja, noted that the IGP Disu received Mr  Agboola, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he formally conferred on him the National Youth Ambassador of the NPF.

“The appointment recognises Mr Agboola’s achievements as a technology entrepreneur and his leadership in building Flutterwave into a leading African financial technology company, particularly his contributions to innovation, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and responsible enterprise.

“The initiative is designed to leverage positive youth leadership and credible role models to promote peacebuilding, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and constructive civic participation, while encouraging young Nigerians to reject cybercrime and other social vices.

“The IGP noted that the appointment reflects the Force’s commitment to engaging young Nigerians as partners in building safer communities and promoting responsible citizenship. He emphasised the importance of providing young people with positive pathways through education, innovation, entrepreneurship and lawful enterprise.

“The IGP also highlighted the need to strengthen the technological capacity of young Police officers, particularly their understanding of emerging technologies and their application to modern policing. He noted that developing expertise in digital tools, technology and cyber-related investigative techniques would enhance the Force’s capacity to investigate cybercrime, trace digital evidence and respond effectively to technology-enabled criminality.

“The IGP charged the new Ambassador to use his platform and influence to inspire young Nigerians to pursue legitimate opportunities, embrace integrity and responsible innovation, and contribute meaningfully to national development,” the FPRO stated.

He said Mr. Agboola, in his response, expressed appreciation to the Police boss for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to support the objectives of the initiative, particularly in youth empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and peaceful civic engagement.
