FOB Formoso honours excellence, celebrates personnel at morale-boosting run ashore

Personnel and civilian staff of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso on Friday July 17, 2026, gathered for a colourful run ashore and second quarter birthday celebration, reaffirming the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to personnel welfare, motivation, and operational excellence in line with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS).

The event brought together officers, ratings, and civilian employees in a relaxed atmosphere aimed at strengthening esprit de corps, enhancing teamwork, and promoting a healthy work environment.

As part of the celebration, personnel and civilian staff born between April and June were honoured, while the best rating and best civilian staff of the month awards were presented to deserving recipients in recognition of their exemplary performance, dedication, and outstanding contributions to the Base.

Beyond the festivities, the gathering provided an opportunity for personnel across various departments to interact freely, build stronger professional relationships, and reinforce the spirit of unity and cooperation considered vital to the effective discharge of the Base’s operational responsibilities, Blueprint.ng reports.

Speaking at the event, the Commanding Officer, FOB Formoso, Captain S.K. Haruna, praised officers, ratings, and civilian staff for their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and loyalty to duty.

He noted that the initiative forms part of the Chief of the Naval Staff’s broader vision of improving personnel welfare, boosting morale, and fostering a workplace where excellence is recognised and rewarded.

Captain Haruna stressed that hard work never goes unnoticed, assuring personnel that dedication and exceptional service would continue to receive due recognition.

He congratulated the award recipients and birthday celebrants, urging all personnel to remain disciplined, professional, and steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities.
