FCT police rescue suspect from jungle justice over alleged attempted abduction of 5-year-old child

The FCT Police Command, on Sunday, October 4, rescued a man identified as Bashir Usman, who was being ass@ulted by an angry mob over an alleged attempt to abduct a child.
The police received a report that the man was been mobed. Following receipt of the report, police operatives from Kuje Division were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the suspect was rescued from an irate mob that was about to lynch him.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspect was being ass@ulted by the mob over allegations that he attempted to abduct a five year old child in front of her residence in Angwan Lado, Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
The suspect was taken into protective custody, while investigations into the alleged crime is being expanded to unravel the extent of his activities and apprend any accomplices who may be involved.
Reacting to the incident, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi PhD, strongly discouraged members of the public from taking the law into their own hands or engaging in jungle justice, as such acts are criminal and tantamount to murder, under the law.
The Command enjoins parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the safety and wellbeing of their children and wards.
