
Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Friday sustained a growth trajectory, gaining N405 billion.
The market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.25 per cent to N159.558 trillion from N159.153 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 604.22 basis points to 246992.44 points from 246388.22 points it closed on Thursday.
The market breadth was negative with 28 advancers against 31 decliners, bringing year to date return to 58.72 per cent
The volume of trades rose by 1.808 billion, representing 416.56 per cent as investors traded 2.242 billion shares against 434.023 million recorded the previous day; the value of transactions went up by 149.70 per cent to settle at N73.411 billion in 42709 deals.
An analysis of the investment showed that Abbey Building Society and Royal Express led the gainers’ table with 10 per cent each to close at N7.70 and N1.10 per unit; Nigerian Breweries followed with a gain of 9.93 per cent to close at N82.45 per unit; JohnHolt add 9.89 per cent to close at N10.00 while Daar Communications gained 9.68 per cent to close at N1.70 per unit.
On the contrary, Redstarex and HMcall topped the losers’ chart, dropping by 10 per cent each to close at N13.95 and 3.60 per unit respectively; IMG trailed with a loss of 9.97 per cent to close at N30.70 per share; Juli pharmaceutical down by 9.66 per cent to close at N6.55 per unit; UPL gained 9.09 per cent to close at N5.00 per unit.
Transactions in the shares of FTG Insurance led market activities with 1.454 billion shares valued at N2.841 billion; United Bank for Africa followed with account of 312.421 million shares worth N13.541 billion; Conhall traded 52.823 million shares cost N331.310 million; Zenith Bank exchanged 30.963 million shares valued at N3.991 billion; Access Holdings company traded 25.216 million cost N759.909 million, while Chams recorded 24.989 million shares cost N92.023 million.
