Residents of Ogooluwa community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, were on Monday, August 31, thrown into mourning after the Shepherd of Iri Orun Parish of the Celestial Church of Christ, CCC, Bidemi Odukoya, allegedly macheted his wife to d*ath during a midnight domestic dispute before reportedly taking his own life.
Eyewitnesses say trouble started after the clergyman accused his wife of having an affair with another man, while the deceased wife also accused her husband of seeing another lady in his church. It is said that on the day of the incident, the couple began a heated argument at about midnight that spiralled into a fight. It was during the fight that the clergyman allegedly used the machete to inflict serious injury to his wife’s head. She reportedly collapsed on the floor, lying in a pool of her blo@d.
Her 14-year-old son, Daniel, immediately ran out to alert the neighbors who came in and found her dead.
After allegedly attacking his wife, Odukoya, a father of three boys, reportedly fled the community and headed for the Coker junction, Ifo section of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, about 20 minutes drive away from Akiode community.
He allegedly then threw himself in front of a moving truck, resulting in his instant death. Both husband and wife were buried beside their home on Monday evening.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, ASP Opeyemi Oluborode, said the police has since launched an investigation. He mentioned that the case has been transferred to the SCID for diligent investigation.
