Elon Musk Calls Marine Le Pen 'France's Last Hope' Ahead of Next Year's Election
Elon Musk publicly called Marine Le Pen “France’s last hope” ahead of her fourth presidential bid, marking his first clear endorsement in French politics after previously backing President Macron’s policies.
Elon Musk has thrown his support behind French hard-right leader Marine Le Pen ahead of next year’s pivotal presidential election, marking one of his clearest political statements yet on France. Writing on X, the platform he owns, Musk posted on Wednesday that Le Pen is “France’s last hope,” a comment tied to her currently strong polling numbers ahead of the vote.
The timing lines up with Le Pen officially launching her fourth presidential campaign last week. Her path to run again came after an appeals court cleared her to stand for office, despite her having been found guilty of embezzling funds tied to the European Parliament. Le Pen maintains her innocence on that charge and is pursuing an appeal before a higher court.
France, though, was different. Until now, Musk had steered clear of publicly backing any specific candidate in French politics.
