Boxer Fernando Vargas Jr. arrested on suspicion of DUI
Professional boxer Fernando Vargas Jr. was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a three-vehicle crash at Universal Studios Hollywood, according to reports.
The incident occurred on Thursday night inside a parking structure at the theme park, where Vargas was allegedly involved in a collision involving three vehicles. No injuries were reported in connection with the crash. The California Highway Patrol is expected to present the case to county prosecutors, who will determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
Hours before his arrest, Vargas posted a video on social media showing him shirtless inside a vehicle alongside a woman who appeared to be sitting in the passenger seat. The pair could be seen listening to music and posing for the camera. The supplied report does not establish when the video was recorded, who was driving at the time of the alleged crash or whether the social media footage was connected to the circumstances leading to Vargas’ arrest.
Vargas, the son of former two-time light middleweight world champion Fernando Vargas, has followed his father into professional boxing. He has recorded 17 professional victories, including 15 by knockout. Vargas’ arrest on suspicion of DUI does not amount to a conviction, and prosecutors will determine whether to pursue charges following review of the case.
