Benue varsity ASUU suspends strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Moses Oshio Adasu University, MOAUN, formerly Benue State University, BSU has suspended its indefinite strike.
DAILY POST reports that the university had on June 1st, 2026, declared an indefinite strike over the non-payment of promotion arrears and other important issues.
However, the National Executive Council, NEC of the university’s ASUU in a statement issued on Wednesday by its chairperson, Comrade Dr. Ali Sule Ako, said the industrial action has been suspended.
According to the statement, the decision to suspend the strike followed a “successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU arising from a tripartite agreement involving the Union, the Benue State Government, and the University Administration”.
ASUU said the agreement reflected the commitment of all parties in addressing the issues that led to the strike through constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.
“Consequently, the strike action has been suspended with immediate effect. All academic staff of the University are hereby directed to resume their official duties immediately and continue to discharge their responsibilities diligently.
“The Union appreciates the understanding, patience, and solidarity shown by its members, students, parents, and the general public throughout the period of the industrial action,” the statement added.
