The Chief Medical Director of the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Professor Olawale Olakulehin on Tuesday said 31 of the 39 rescued students have been discharged from the hospital.
According to Professor Olakulehin, the 31 discharged students have been certified medically fit and reunited with their families.
The CMD declared that 8 of the remaining students are to be under medical observation and treatment as part of efforts to ensure their full recovery.
He hinted that one of the children was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect during a comprehensive medical evaluation conducted by specialists at the hospital.
” The child has a hole in the heart, which was discovered during our medical assessment. There is no cause for alarm because the child is stable and doing well”, he said.
Professor Olakulehin added, “We have commenced the necessary medical procedures and will formally notify the Oyo State Government to facilitate the next phase of treatment.
The CMD stated that the discharge of the 31 pupils marked another significant milestone in the rehabilitation of the rescued victims, noting that the remaining children would continue to receive the best possible medical attention until they are certified fit to return home.
Prof Olakulehin assured parents and the public that the welfare of all the rescued children remains a top priority, adding that medical experts will continue to monitor their physical and psychological well-being as part of their post-rescue recovery process.
