The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic
Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has revealed why he attended the launch of the Allied
Peoples Movement, APM, presidential campaign office in Abuja.

Obi disclosed this in a post on his verified X handle on
Tuesday.

He said his presence at the event was informed by the need
to promote a new Nigeria anchored on unity, love, justice, mutual respect and
inclusion, particularly at a time when political contests could become
unnecessarily contentious and divisive.

According to the former Anambra State governor, Nigerian
politicians must ensure that their shared love for the country remains greater
than their political differences.

He urged fellow presidential candidates to build their
campaigns around ideas and solutions capable of addressing the challenges
facing Nigeria, including insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality and the
growing number of out-of-school children.

“Let us compete on ideas that will unite our people, improve
their lives, and restore hope to our nation, while maintaining respect,
decency, and love for one another.

“I congratulate my dear brothers, Governor Seyi Makinde and
Governor Bala Mohammed, as well as all the leaders and members of the APM, on
this important milestone,” Obi wrote.
