2027 elections: Tinubu ’s re-election bid gets boost as Grace Lokpobiri mobilises women
Dr Ogechi Grace Lokpobiri, wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance (TIHSEPA), has urged Nigerian women and health professionals to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Lokpobiri made the call on Friday in Abuja, urging Nigerians to support the administration’s reform agenda despite the short-term difficulties associated with some of its policies.
She said the reforms were intended to address longstanding structural challenges and reposition the country for sustainable economic growth and greater global relevance.
According to her, although the policies have created difficulties for some citizens, their long-term objectives should also be considered.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country. While reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.
The TIHSEPA coordinator urged women to take a more active role in national politics, saying their participation was important to the country’s development.
“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she added.
She called on women across the country to mobilise peacefully in support of government programmes focused on healthcare, social welfare, family support and economic empowerment.
Lokpobiri also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as an “Icon of Impact” for her interventions in the lives of women, children and vulnerable Nigerians.
She cited the Renewed Hope Initiative and other programmes addressing social welfare, healthcare, education and economic empowerment as examples of efforts she said complemented the administration’s development agenda.
On healthcare, Lokpobiri called on practitioners to contribute actively to reform discussions and use their professional expertise to strengthen the nation’s healthcare system.
She described healthcare as a critical driver of productivity and economic development, stressing the need for services that are more accessible and responsive to citizens’ needs.
She said TIHSEPA would continue to mobilise health professionals and other stakeholders to support healthcare improvement and national development.
Lokpobiri also appealed for national unity and sustained implementation of government policies, expressing optimism that the administration’s reform agenda would create more opportunities for Nigerians.
