Katsina residents have attended town hall meetings across the state to voice out their views on how the government should prepare and spend the next year’s budget.
The state government had called on residents across the 361 political wards to take part in the 2027 Budget Town Hall Meeting scheduled for the weekend to prepare a budget that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
The exercise, organised by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with the Community Development Programme, was themed: “Building Your Future IV” and it is aimed at giving citizens the opportunity to contribute ideas, identify priority projects and make recommendations for the 2027 budget.
While briefing newsmen ahead of time, Hon. Malik Anas, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, said the town hall meetings would be held across all 361 wards in the state.
The commissioner said the initiative is in line with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to inclusive governance and ensuring that citizens have a direct voice in how public resources are planned and allocated.
He urged residents, community leaders, women, youths, traditional rulers, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to attend the meetings and make meaningful contributions that would help shape the state’s development agenda.
He noted that the views and recommendations gathered during the exercise would play a key role in preparing a people-focused budget that addresses the real needs of communities across Katsina State.
