No fewer than 15 people have reportedly been burnt to death in a tragic road accident along Enagi–Costain Duma sharp corner road in Mokwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger state.

The tragedy was said to have occurred in the early hours on Saturday August 8, 2026.

Blueprint.ng reports that a vehicle carrying the people was engulfed by fire at the sharp corner, adding that the victims were burnt to death inside the vehicle.

An eyewitness Ahmed Ndagana who spoke on the incident said the exact cause of the flame is still sketchy and full details of those involved are still being verified by relevant authorities.

According to him, “All 15 bodies have been given mass burial in accordance with the Islamic rites. All road users should exercise caution, especially around sharp corners and during this rainy season to prevent avoidable accidents”.

However, concerned authorities are yet to issue official statements on the development as at the time of filing this report.
