Woman crushed to death by man who landed on her after he fell from 12-story building
A 23-year-old woman has died after being crushed by a man falling from a 12-story building in Japan.
The young woman was walking along a footpath in the busy Sakae district of Nagoya, a city about a two-hour drive east of Kyoto, when a 29-year-old man allegedly fell on her from a high-rise apartment building above.
A female friend who had been walking with the woman and was uninjured in the incident, called emergency services about 1am Sunday morning.
The woman and man were both rushed to hospital where the woman died a number of hours later of haemorrhagic shock as a result of her injuries.
The man survived the fall but remains in hospital in a critical condition with severe head and chest injuries.

The area was cordoned off by police and investigations are now underway to determine the cause of the fall.
A similar incident occurred in Melbourne’s CBD earlier this year when a man was struck by a woman falling from a building on William Street.
The woman died at the scene and the man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital in a serious condition with upper body injuries.
