US ICE arrests Nigerian national convicted of larceny, money laundering

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has arrested Nigerian national Raphael Oludemilade-Adebowale following his convictions for larceny and money laundering in Massachusetts.

The US Department of Homeland Security, DHS, announced the arrest on Wednesday, identifying Adebowale among those detained during its latest immigration enforcement operation.

DHS said Adebowale was convicted in Massachusetts on charges involving the theft of more than $1,200 from a person aged over 60, as well as money laundering.

His attempt to have the indictment dismissed was rejected by a Massachusetts Superior Court before a jury found him guilty, according to court documents.

Adebowale now faces immigration proceedings and possible removal from the United States following his arrest by ICE.

DHS included his case in an announcement highlighting the arrests of immigrants with criminal convictions as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement operation.

US Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said, “Yesterday, ICE law enforcement arrested murderers, pedophiles, stalkers, and other dangerous illegal aliens.”
