Africa’s Global Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has launched a Group-wide Climate Action Week to deepen local weather consciousness, promote accountable environmental practices and advance sustainable finance throughout its African and worldwide operations.

The five-day marketing campaign, operating from October 26 to 30, 2026, is themed “Banking on Africa’s Climate Future” and displays the Bank’s dedication to integrating environmental duty into its operations, buyer engagement and financing options.

The initiative commenced with the deployment of waste segregation bins throughout UBA places of work and measures to scale back using single-use plastics on the Bank’s head places of work. These actions underscore UBA’s dedication to translating sustainability ideas into sensible actions inside its office and throughout its wider ecosystem.

Throughout the week, UBA will disseminate instructional content material throughout its media and digital platforms to spotlight the causes and penalties of local weather change, together with its impression on meals costs, power consumption and concrete flooding.

As a part of the marketing campaign’s group engagement part, UBA employees volunteers will take part in a Group-wide clean-up train on Saturday, November 7, in main cities throughout its markets. In Nigeria, the train will happen in Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt, mobilising staff to contribute on to cleaner and more healthy communities.

UBA’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba, emphasised the significance of collective duty in addressing the rising impression of local weather change.

“Climate change is no longer a distant environmental concern; it is increasingly shaping everyday life across Africa. We see its effects in rising food costs, increased energy demand and flooding that disrupts homes, businesses and livelihoods.”
