President Trump saluted the flag draped caskets of four American service members killed in the Iran war during a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base today, calling it one of the hardest parts of his presidency.

President Trump stood and saluted today as four flag draped caskets were carried off a military cargo plane at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, honoring four American service members killed last week during fighting in the Iran war. An honor guard moved the remains to transport vans while family members looked on. At one point, a relative could be heard crying out as her loved one’s body was carried past.

Before heading to the ceremony, Trump spoke with reporters at Joint Base Andrews and described the moment as one of the toughest parts of being president. He said honoring the fallen has to be done, even though it’s never easy, and that meeting with grieving families comes down to simply telling them they are loved and letting his own emotions show.

The New York Post identified those killed in the Jordan strike as Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, and Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Spring Lake, North Carolina, was the service member who died in Iraq.

Trump suggested Tuesday that Iran may be deliberately prolonging the conflict to hurt Republicans ahead of the November midterms. Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters on Capitol Hill the same day that it’s time to bring the war to an end, reflecting growing pressure from within Trump’s own party to reach a resolution quickly.
