Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims in Katsina
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully rescued 14 kidnapped victims after engaging terrorists in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation took place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, around Madaci Forest, following intelligence reports about the terrorists’ movement.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the operation, confirmed that the troops swiftly mobilized, confronted the terrorists, and forced them to abandon their captives before fleeing into nearby bushes.
A search of the area led to the rescue of 14 victims six males and eight females who had been abducted from different locations across Dandume, Bakori, and Funtua.
The victims have since been handed over to local authorities for assistance and reunification with their families.
Danja emphasized that the rescue highlights the determination of the troops to protect communities and disrupt terrorist activities in the North-West.
He assured residents that operations will continue to intensify, urging them to provide timely information to aid security efforts.
