Tinubu Presides Over First FEC Meeting Since June
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House, Abuja, his first since June 29, 2026.
The session began at 2:30 p.m. with the national anthem, attended by top government officials including Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Head of Civil Service Didi Walson-Jack, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, ministers, aides, and agency heads.
The council observed a minute’s silence in honour of two former ministers: Abubakar Alhaji, who served as Finance Minister under Ibrahim Babangida and died on July 30, 2026, and Prof.
Turner Isoun, Minister of Science and Technology under Olusegun Obasanjo, who passed away on July 15, 2026.
At the last FEC meeting in June, Tinubu swore in two new commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission before the council session commenced.
Details of Wednesday’s meeting are expected to be released later.
