Tinubu, Atiku, Obi Mourn With Amaechi Over Mother’s Death

President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi have led a wave of condolences to former Minister of Transportation and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Amaechi.

The tributes, which cut across political divides, also came from former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), George Moghalu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the CRA Advocacy Network, all of whom described the late matriarch as a woman whose life was marked by faith, humility and service to humanity.

In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dame Amaechi as a devout Catholic whose life reflected sacrifice, kindness and perseverance.

“My heartfelt condolences to the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity,” the President said.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and urged the bereaved family to draw strength from the enduring legacy she left behind.

Former Vice President Atiku also expressed sympathy with the Amaechi family, describing the deceased as a devoted Christian whose life was dedicated to God and the service of others.

“I join the family, friends and associates of Rotimi Amaechi in mourning the passing of his beloved mother,” Atiku wrote on his official X account.

He added that the nation remained indebted to her memory for raising “one of our outstanding statesmen and great patriots.”

Similarly, Obi said the death of a mother remains one of life’s most painful experiences, noting that he received the news of Dame Amaechi’s passing with sadness.

“Losing a parent, especially a matriarch who contributed so much to her family and community, is a profound loss that words can scarcely comfort,” Obi stated in a condolence message shared on his verified X handle.

He prayed that God would grant Amaechi and the entire family the strength, fortitude and peace needed to bear the loss.

Also paying tribute, Moghalu described the late Dame Amaechi as a revered matriarch whose life exemplified faith, compassion, humility and sacrifice.

According to him, her enduring legacy of love, devotion to God and service to humanity would continue to inspire generations.

The ADC had earlier announced the death in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

The party described the deceased as a matriarch whose love, guidance and strength shaped generations, while praying that God would comfort the Amaechi family during the period of mourning.

The CRA Advocacy Network also expressed condolences in a message posted on X, describing her passing as a profound loss and offering prayers for Amaechi and his family.
