Tinubu Asked Me to Build More Roads Despite Calls for My Sack – Umahi

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed calls for his removal from office following the death of a female staff member at his private residence, insisting that President Bola Tinubu directed him to remain focused on delivering infrastructure projects.

According to the minister, some individuals attempted to politicize the incident by demanding his dismissal.

“Power and might don’t belong to social media, it belongs to God. When people took the death of one of my staff and started playing politics with it, they said the president should sack me, but the president surprised all of them and said, ‘Dave, go and build more roads,’” Umahi stated.

While he did not comment on the ongoing investigation into Habila’s death, Umahi maintained that he remains committed to his responsibilities and will continue to prioritize infrastructure delivery.

The incident has continued to draw public interest, with many Nigerians calling for greater accountability as authorities are yet to announce the outcome of official investigations.
