Sowore accuses DSS of ‘aiding government-sponsored thugs’ to assault him in Ado-Ekiti

Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action
Congress (AAC), has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of aiding
“government-sponsored thugs” to assault him and his crew in Ado-Ekiti.

 

In a publish on X on Friday, the activist mentioned the incident
occurred shortly after he accomplished an interview on Midas FM 90.5 within the Ekiti
state capital.

“We have been brutally attacked and injured by properly armed
government-sponsored thugs in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State,” he wrote.

“The @OfficialDSSNG offered these attackers with our actual
location, enabling them to hold out this vicious assault. We received’t again down!
We have a rustic to liberate!”

In a separate publish, Sowore shared pictures of himself and one
of his aides on hospital beds, alleging that the attackers got here from the Ekiti
Government House and had been backed by the DSS.

“This is the extent of infamy to which Nigeria has been
subjected! Those who brutally attacked us in Ado-Ekiti in the present day got here from the
Government House,” he posted.

“They are well-known, and so they had been supplied with monitoring
and operational help by the DSS.”

He alleged that the DSS operatives had been trailing and
harassing his crew since their arrival within the state a day earlier.

“They even threatened the supervisor of the primary place the place
we ate, warning him by no means to permit us to make use of his premises once more,” he mentioned.

He dismissed claims by Falade Michael, commissioner of
police in Ekiti, that the incident was “mere altercations”.

Sowore mentioned the commissioner personally visited the scene of
the brutal assault and noticed firsthand the “extensive injuries” him and his crew
sustained.

“The Commissioner noticed the accidents, witnessed the aftermath
of the violence, and was absolutely conscious of the seriousness of what occurred,” he
wrote.

“Yet his Command has chosen to trivialize the assault, even
describing the accidents as “minor.

“No surprise allegations have emerged that the Commissioner of
Police himself was concerned. This is despicable!”

As of the time of submitting this report, the DSS is but to
subject an official response to the allegations.
