‘Don't ask me such a condescending question' – Moment Sowore clashes with Channels TV presenter
There was drama on Friday after the African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore clashed with Channels Television’s Politics Today programme presenter, Seun Okinbaloye, over a query on his Ekiti assault.
The heated second occurred when the presenter requested Sowore if he provoked the thugs who attacked him in Ado-Ekiti.
Visibly indignant, Sowore fired again on the presenter, warning him to not ask such a condescending query.
“Don’t ask me such a condescending question. I was attacked, I was beaten. You are asking me if I provoked them? That is victim blaming,” Sowore shouted.
The presenter, who was bowled over by Sowore’s response, tried to calm him down, saying he was solely attempting to get the complete image of what occurred.
However, the human rights activist insisted that the query was insensitive and accused mainstream media of attempting to downplay the assault.
“I came here to tell you that I was attacked and the police seized the CCTV to cover it up, and you are asking me if I provoked thugs? Is that journalism?” he requested.
The conflict, which lasted for about two minutes, has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians taking sides.
While some praised Sowore for calling out the presenter, others stated the presenter was solely doing his job by asking probing questions.
The clip of the confrontation has been shared extensively on X and Facebook, producing 1000’s of feedback.
DAILY POST remembers that Sowore was attacked in Ado-Ekiti on Friday and later accused the Ekiti State Police Command and the DSS of seizing the CCTV footage that captured the assault.
