Security Forces Rescue 32 Kidnap Victims in Sokoto
Security operatives in Sokoto State have successfully rescued 32 kidnapped victims after overpowering armed bandits in Maikujera Village, Rabah Local Government Area.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Ahmad Rufa’i, the operation was launched following a distress call reporting the movement of heavily armed bandits with rustled livestock and abducted persons.
Police tactical units, including the Anti-Kidnapping and Violent Crime Reaction squads, swiftly mobilized alongside the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operating Base to block escape routes.
A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to abandon the hostages and stolen animals before fleeing into the forest.
The subsequent search led to the safe recovery of 32 victims, six adult males and 26 females, most of them children.
They were evacuated to safety and are receiving medical and psychological support ahead of reunification with their families.
Authorities confirmed that four persons were killed before security forces arrived.
