Police raid ‘counterfeit dollar notes hideout’ in Ondo, arrest suspect

 The police command in Ondo says its operatives raided a
hideout “believed for use for the manufacturing and printing of counterfeit
greenback notes” in Kiniso village,  Odigbo
LGA of the state.

 

The police mentioned officers arrested one suspect and recovered
three luggage containing pretend United States greenback payments through the operation.

In an announcement on Tuesday, Abayomi Jimoh, Ondo police
spokesperson, mentioned the power commenced the operation after one Yusuf Nasir, a
resident of Sabo space of Okitipupa, reported that he was defrauded by two males.

Jimoh mentioned Nasir informed the police that Peter Desmond and
Olami Toro approached him at his store on October 25, 2026 to request international
alternate transaction.

The complainant allegedly gave each males the sum of $6,000 in
order to obtain the naira equal.

“However, whereas ready to obtain the naira equal, the
suspects allegedly returned the {dollars} to him, claiming that they didn’t have
ample funds to finish the transaction, and subsequently left,” Jimoh
mentioned.

“The complainant later found, upon nearer examination,
that the greenback notes returned to him have been counterfeit, prompting him to report
the incident to the Police.

“Through intelligence gathering and technical monitoring, the
staff traced one of many suspects, Peter Desmond, to Kiniso Village, by way of Ajue, in
Odigbo Local Government Area.

“Acting on credible intelligence obtained from members of
the group, operatives proceeded to the recognized location on twenty ninth October
2026, the place they raided the suspected hideout believed for use for the
manufacturing and printing of counterfeit greenback notes meant to defraud
unsuspecting members of the general public.”

Jimoh mentioned through the operation, one of many suspects was
arrested, whereas the opposite escaped by means of the perimeter fence of the hideout.
