Following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Shehu Umar Nadada, Friday, arrived Imo state for an on-the-spot assessment and to provide operational direction for the ongoing search-and-rescue mission involving abducted prospective NYSC corps members and other passengers.
Blueprint.ng correspondent gathered that he DIG, alongside the Commissioner of Police Imo state command, CP Federal Operations, CP MOPOL, other service commanders and members of the Imo Police command management team, assessed the situation and reviewed the ongoing operation.
Residents of the área where the abduction was carried out were happy that security operatives responded swiftly for the planned rescue of the abductees and hoped that the exercise would be successful.
The corps members and other passengers were abducted along Owerri-Onitsha road between Ogbaku and Umunoha communities, all in Mbaitoli local government area of the state on 66th Nigeria’s Independence Day October 1, 2026 and were imnediately marched to a nearby forest in the área.
