Police arrest owner of dogs which attacked telecom technician in Edo

The Edo state Police Command has arrested a dog owner, Ughanlunen Sandra, following an attack on a telecommunications technician, Ajani Taiwo, by three dogs in the Okhoro area of Benin City.
The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by Taiwo at the Okhoro Police Division after he was attacked while carrying out an MTN network installation job at a site behind a police division.
The incident reportedly occurred when Taiwo, a resident of Adesagbon Street, off Okhoro Road, Egor local government area, visited the site.
Spokesperson for the Edo state Police command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the suspect was arrested after the victim reported the matter to the police.
Ikoedem said: “Upon arrival at the site, he contacted the person in charge of power to open the door, and as the door was opened, about three dogs attacked him before the owner, Ughanlunen Sandra, arrived at the scene.”
The police spokesperson stated that investigation into the incident had commenced.
She also cautioned dog owners and breeders to exercise proper control and supervision over their animals to prevent attacks and ensure the safety of members of the public.
Blueprint gathered that the telecom technician cries for help attracted neighbours, who rushed to the scene and helped to rescue him from the dogs.
Taiwo was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital where he received emergency treatment after sustaining injuries, including a head injury.
