Police arrest man over alleged murder of friend in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Saminu Ibrahim in connection with the alleged murder of his friend following a violent altercation in Ringim Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse.
He said, the arrest was part of a series of security breakthroughs recorded by the command in its ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across Jigawa.
According to the statement, the command received a report at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday regarding a culpable homicide incident that occurred at Dabigel Village in Ringim LGA.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred when a misunderstanding between two 20-year-old youths escalated into violence, during which one of them allegedly stabbed the other in the chest with a sharp metal object, locally known as Danbuda.
The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The police said operatives swiftly arrested the suspect identified as Saminu Ibrahim of Gidan Gona Village, Ringim LGA, in connection with the incident.
SP Shiisu said the case was under investigation and that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.
He added that upon completion of the investigation, the suspect would be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction to face prosecution.
