PDP practically defunct – Oyo legislative candidates

All the legislative candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state Monday evening declared the party “practically defunct” in the state.

The candidates stated this in a communiqué issued after a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan hosted by Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the party gubernatorial candidate in the state.

At the meeting, the candidates expressed their readiness to follow Arapaja to any party he decides to go.

The forum comprising   three senatorial, 14 House of Representatives, and 32 House of Assembly candidates, said Arapaja should forget his 2027 governorship ambition under the ruling PDP, adding that  the party is ‘practically defunct.’

Reading the resolutions, jointly signed by Michael Folorunsho Lana, Hon. Ogunsina Muritala Niyi, Hon. Peter Olusina Olapoju and Hon. Sunday Babatunde, the candidates condemned Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership style, while  accusing him of persistent marginalisation of party elders and total disregard for their contributions to the party’s growth.
