Adeboye’s granddaughter weds in United States

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, have attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Oluwafunmilayo Adubi, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States.

Oluwafunmilayo married David Joseph on October 21, 2026, at House of Praise Baltimore, in a ceremony attended by family members, senior RCCG leaders and other guests.

The wedding attracted attention on social media following the circulation of videos showing Adeboye praying for the couple and pronouncing a marriage blessing on them.

Adeboye prays for newlyweds

Footage from the ceremony, shared online on Friday, showed the RCCG general overseer stepping forward to pray for his granddaughter and her husband.

The moment drew attention from social media users, particularly members of the church who follow the activities of the renowned cleric and his family.

Adeboye’s participation in the ceremony formed part of the celebrations as the families gathered to witness the union and offer prayers and goodwill messages to the newlyweds.

The wedding also brought together members of the Adeboye family and other guests who celebrated the couple as they began their married life.

Bride is daughter of Adeboye’s only daughter

Oluwafunmilayo is the daughter of Pastor Bolu Adubi, Adeboye’s only daughter, and her husband, Pastor Akinsanya Adubi.

During the ceremony, Bolu personally handed her daughter over in marriage, marking a significant moment in the wedding celebration.

The family connection made the occasion particularly notable, with the bride being the granddaughter of one of Nigeria’s most prominent Christian leaders.

Adeboye and his wife, Folu, are widely known among members of the RCCG as Daddy G.O. and Mummy G.O., respectively.

Their presence at the wedding was captured in photographs shared online, including images showing the couple alongside the newlyweds.

Wedding blends Nigerian and Western traditions

The ceremony combined Western and Nigerian wedding traditions, reflecting the cultural backgrounds of the couple and their families.

The celebration included both the marriage ceremony and traditional wedding activities, with photographs and videos offering glimpses of the different moments.

Foluso Ogunjimi, popularly known as Sokoyokoto, who served as the master of ceremonies, shared posts celebrating the bride and the union on social media on Friday.

In one of his posts, Ogunjimi described Oluwafunmilayo as the graceful granddaughter of Adeboye and congratulated the couple on their marriage.

He wrote, “It’s all about Oluwafunmilayo, the graceful granddaughter of Pastor E A Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God. The union is greatly blessed.”

In another post, the master of ceremonies wrote, “Great Grandparents loading. Congratulations Daddy & MGO,” expressing his goodwill towards Adeboye and his wife.

Celebration attracts attention online

The wedding has continued to attract attention on social media, particularly following the circulation of footage showing Adeboye praying for his granddaughter and her husband.

Photographs shared by guests and individuals involved in the ceremony also captured moments featuring the couple, their relatives and other attendees.

The online posts highlighted the family’s participation in the celebration and attracted congratulatory messages for the newlyweds.

Adeboye, who leads the RCCG, is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s Christian community, and activities involving him and his family frequently attract public interest.

The wedding marked a new chapter for Oluwafunmilayo and David as they began their married life, surrounded by family members, church leaders and well-wishers.
