PDP Faction Accuses Wike, Sandy Onor of Destabilising Cross River
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Prof. Sandy Onor of allegedly plotting to disrupt peace in Cross River State.
The group, which has Julius Udayi as its governorship candidate, raised the allegations during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Calabar on Thursday.
According to the faction, Wike is sponsoring parallel political activities in the state through Onor and another governorship aspirant, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, creating confusion within the PDP.
“Senator Sandy Onor and his cohorts are not only frolicking, they are endangering the peace and order that have come to characterise our dear state,” the faction alleged.
The group urged Governor Bassey Otu and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate what it described as “reoccurring parallel political activities” by the Onor-led faction. It further accused Wike’s supporters of pursuing personal interests and “presidential experimentation” rather than focusing on the development of Cross River.
The faction insisted that the Turaki-led leadership remains the legitimate PDP leadership, citing a Court of Appeal ruling in its favour.Reacting, Archibong dismissed the allegations, saying: “They’re campaigning for us.”
