Two men were stabbed near Central Park on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on Thursday afternoon and were hospitalized in stable condition.

Two men were stabbed in broad daylight on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on Thursday afternoon, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Police said a 57-year-old man was attacked near West 84th Street and Central Park West at around 1:31 PM. Officers responding to a 911 call found him conscious and alert with a stab wound to his back.

Investigators later found a 50-year-old man injured near West 86th Street and Central Park West, just blocks away. According to police, he suffered a stab wound to the chest.

The NYPD said both victims were stabbed in the torso, while another law enforcement source said the men were stabbed “throughout” their bodies. They were transported to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition and are expected to survive.

Police said one of the victims may have been wearing a yarmulke, but the motive for the attacks remains unclear.

The suspect fled the scene and barricaded himself inside an apartment on Amsterdam Avenue before officers took him into custody. Police recovered the knife at the scene.

The suspect has not been identified, and charges were pending at the time of the announcement. Authorities said the investigation into a possible motive is ongoing.
