The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has facilitated the recovery and clearance of power equipment belonging to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) that had been abandoned at various Nigerian seaports.

The NDPHC said the intervention would help accelerate implementation of power projects across the country and avert potential losses running into billions of naira.

The NDPHC Managing Director, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, disclosed this when she led the company’s management team on a visit to the NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, and his management team in Lagos over the weekend.

Adighije said the equipment was required for the execution of ongoing NDPHC projects, noting that prolonged delays in clearing the consignments could have affected project timelines and increased costs.

She said the NPA’s intervention had saved the NDPHC billions of naira in potential losses.

Adighije called for stronger collaboration between the NDPHC, NPA and other relevant agencies in the energy and maritime sectors to prevent bureaucratic bottlenecks affecting the execution of infrastructure projects.

She said the visit was also aimed at strengthening the working relationship between the NDPHC and NPA.

Responding, Dantsoho said the NPA would continue to support initiatives and partnerships that promote national development, and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to facilitating the smooth movement and clearance of critical equipment for infrastructure projects.

Cut: the mutual commendations, “expressed appreciation,” “committed to strengthening the relationship,” and Dantsoho’s remarks on electricity’s importance to economic growth — none of which added news value, only PR framing.
