NIMC seeks stronger partnerships with MDAs on digital ID rollout

The Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has called for stronger partnerships with federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in preparation for its rollout of the digital identity system.

Coker-Odusote made the call during recent meetings with the Ministers of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, that of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Bernard Doro, and Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Sen. John Enoh.

In his remarks, the information minister commended the NIMC leadership for what he described as “remarkable progress” in transforming identity management over the past three years.

“The National Orientation Agency has offices in every local government area in Nigeria. Working closely with the agency will ensure that identity registration reaches the grassroots, where it is needed most,” he said.

Also, Doro welcomed the partnership, saying verifiable identity data would strengthen humanitarian programmes, improving the credibility of government interventions.

The NIMC boss gave the assurance all that the ‘One Identity, One Number’ policy under the new Act would improve transparency, eliminate duplication, and ensure that government’s support reached genuine beneficiaries.
