Nigeria Immigration Service Ends U.S Visa Contract, Directs Applicants to Embassy, Consulates

• NIS terminates agreement with Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), effective immediately.
• Visa applicants in the U.S. now required to submit applications through Nigeria’s Embassy in Washington, D.C., or Consulates in New York and Atlanta.

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has terminated the appointment of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the company previously responsible for handling Nigeria’s visa application and submission process in the United States, directing all applicants to process their visas through Nigerian diplomatic missions.

The directive, which takes immediate effect, requires prospective travellers and Nigerians resident in the United States seeking entry visas into Nigeria to submit their applications directly to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates in New York and Atlanta.

The development was announced in Abuja on Thursday through a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi.

According to the statement, OIS Services has officially ceased to act on behalf of the Nigerian Mission in the United States in receiving and forwarding visa applications.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service hereby informs the general public, particularly prospective travellers and Nigerians residing in the United States of America who may require a visa to enter Nigeria, that Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States, has officially been disengaged from the collection and submission of visa applications on behalf of the Nigerian Mission, effective immediately,” the statement said.

The Service advised intending applicants to comply with the new arrangement until further notice.

It also assured travellers that the Nigerian Embassy and Consulates have put in place adequate measures to ensure uninterrupted visa application, processing and issuance services.

Applicants were urged to rely only on official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States for updates on visa application procedures.

The NIS reiterated its commitment to efficient service delivery and expressed appreciation to applicants for their understanding and cooperation during the transition.
