NAWOJ congratulates Juliana Ose Ofoku as 1st elected female chairman NUJ Nasarawa

Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Zone D, (North Central) has congratulated the first elected female Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, Juliana Ose Ofoke.

The NAWOJ Vice President, Zone D, Mrs. Chizoba Ogbeche, in a press statement, Monday in Abuja, noted that Mrs Ofoku, who got 96 votes, beat Jonah  Samson of Nasarawa Broadcasting  Service (NBS), who scored 89 votes and Sunday John of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who garnered 61 votes, to emerge chairman of the council.

The zone stressed that Mrs Ofoku’s  emergence was a landmark achievement that signifies the growing recognition of the competence, resilience, and leadership capacity of women within the journalism profession.

“It is a proud moment not only for women journalists but also for the entire media community, as it reinforces the principles of inclusion, equity, and equal opportunity in leadership.

“NAWOJ Zone D is confident that your wealth of experience, professionalism, and dedication will inspire greater unity among members, promote excellence in journalism, and advance the welfare of journalists within the Council.

“As you assume this important responsibility, we wish you wisdom, strength, and success in providing visionary leadership that will leave a lasting legacy for the union and the profession.
