My Husband Gets Angry Whenever I Stop Him From Going To The Kitchen To Cook -Joke Silva

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has shared an interesting insight into her marriage, revealing that her husband, legendary actor Olu Jacobs, enjoys cooking so much that he becomes upset whenever anyone tries to stop him from entering the kitchen.

Silva made the revelation during a conversation on the With Chude podcast hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo. The discussion centered on gender roles, marriage, and the assumptions many people make about domestic responsibilities in Nigerian homes.

According to the actress, cooking was never a burden for her husband. Instead, it was an activity he genuinely enjoyed and used as a way to relax after a busy day.

She said: “My husband gets angry whenever I stop him from going to the kitchen to cook.”

Silva explained that her husband viewed the kitchen as a personal space where he could unwind and relieve stress. Rather than seeing cooking as work, he treated it as a therapeutic activity that helped him relax.

The actress noted that she eventually learned to respect this aspect of his personality. According to her, interfering with him while he was cooking often led to frustration because it disrupted a routine that meant a great deal to him.

She recalled that one of the lessons she learned in marriage was to allow her husband enjoy the activities that brought him comfort and peace of mind.
