The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has announced the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, as the Chief Host of the fourth edition of the Advertising Industry Colloquium (AIC 4.0), while the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace, will chair the event.

The annual colloquium, themed “The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulations,” is scheduled to hold on August 6, 2026, at D’Podium Event Centre in Lagos.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the Advertising Industry Colloquium and Journal Committee, Rotimi Olatunji, ARCON said the event will bring together key stakeholders from Nigeria’s advertising, marketing and communications ecosystem, including advertisers, advertising agencies, media organisations, academics, creative professionals, technology platforms, regulators, policymakers and other industry players.

According to the council, the Advertising Industry Colloquium has evolved into a major annual platform for promoting dialogue between academia and industry, with the objective of advancing scholarship, professionalism and innovation within the advertising and marketing communications sector.

ARCON explained that this year’s edition aligns with its broader efforts to stimulate conversations around emerging trends shaping the future of advertising while strengthening a regulatory framework that promotes responsible advertising, ethical standards, innovation and sustainable industry growth.

The council noted that the appointment of Minister Mohammed Idris as Chief Host reflects the Federal Government’s recognition of advertising as a strategic component of Nigeria’s information and communications landscape.

It added that the minister’s participation underscores the government’s commitment to responsible communication, the growth of the creative economy and the development of an enabling environment for Nigeria’s advertising and marketing industries.

As Chairman of the colloquium, the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba Ndace, is expected to provide strategic leadership for the event, leveraging his extensive experience in journalism, public communication and media administration.

ARCON expressed confidence that Ndace’s leadership would contribute significantly to the success of the 2026 edition.

The event will feature keynote presentations, expert panel discussions and interactive sessions focused on the changing dynamics between digital platforms, advertising professionals and regulatory institutions.
