MC Oluomo: “I’m More Knowledgeable Than Most Graduates”
Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo and President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has declared that despite lacking formal education, his life experiences have made him more knowledgeable than many university graduates.
Speaking at the 50th birthday celebration of Islamic singer Hafsat Adegoke in Lagos, MC Oluomo reflected on his journey from bus conductor to union leader, stressing that practical experience shaped his understanding of life and leadership.
“It’s not about pride. I’ve been spending money since I was 13 years old. I worked as a conductor from noon till evening, gave my mother money for food, and still enjoyed myself at the cinema.
“I didn’t enter the NURTW as a bastard; I learned the work, mastered it, and got to where I am today,” he said.
He emphasized that while he never attended school, his knowledge and wisdom surpass those of many degree holders.
MC Oluomo also pointed to his children’s success now doctors, lawyers, and engineers in the United States as proof that his lack of formal education did not stop him from prioritizing learning.
“Glory be to God. My children today are professionals, and I pray they live long lives. Education is important, and I made sure they had it, even if I didn’t,” he added.
