Matawalle Orders Intensified Military Operations After Zamfara Attacks
The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has directed the military to step up counter-terrorism operations across the North-West following a recent surge in terrorist attacks in Zamfara State.
Matawalle gave the order while sympathising with victims, particularly in Bungudu Local Government Area and other affected communities.
A statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, quoted the minister as reaffirming the Federal Government’s resolve to restore lasting peace in the region.
He specifically instructed troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and other security formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna states to intensify offensive actions, strengthen surveillance, increase patrols, and dismantle terrorist camps and hideouts using all lawful means.
Matawalle also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and the public to provide timely intelligence to support military efforts.
He commended the Armed Forces for recent successes in neutralising terrorists in areas like Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka, Tsafe, and Faskari, urging them to sustain the momentum until security is fully restored.
