Alongside a group of fellow travelers, we spent two agonizing weeks traversing the unforgiving Libyan terrain, entirely at the mercy of smugglers.

Eventually, our initial driver abandoned us at a remote transit point, instructing us to wait for another vehicle to arrive.

It was during this desperate waiting period in the pitch blackness of the early morning that we discovered a water well at the site.
